Tourmaline

Tourmaline is a crystalline silicate mineral compound in which boron is combined with elements including aluminium, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium, or potassium. Dutch traders first discovered the gemstone in the West of Italy in the late 1600s or the early 1700s. Early Western explorers stumbled upon tourmaline in Sri Lanka, and witnessed its uncommon ability to generate electrical charges.
